Highlights from 2024 Queen Promotions
I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! As I look back on this past year, I think about all the promotions Queen Elanie and I participated in.
During her reign, Queen Elanie represented the Florida Watermelon Association with honor and grace. As she prepares to compete at Nationals in February, please join me in wishing her the best of luck!
Here are some of the highlights from our 2024 promotions:
Queen Elanie and I attended 4 NASCAR Truck and Infinity Races, celebrating #1 Watermelon NASCAR driver Ross Chastain's win on Mother’s Day weekend in Darlington.
We enjoyed visiting our farmers and learning more about the watermelon industry. It was a pleasure being able to share what we learned with consumers at various grocery stores and educating our elementary school kids throughout the state on “How to pick out a watermelon”.
Queen Elanie attended tons of sporting events at the University of Florida, where she will be graduating with her master’s degree in May 2025.
Queen Elanie was also featured on many gas station pumps throughout the state promoting our Florida watermelons.
In June, Queen Elanie and I attended the International Fresh Produce Conference in Washington D.C. to lobby at the Capitol with our state representatives on Farm Bill, Nutrition and Growing Consumption, and Labor-Crisis taking on our Workforce Challenges.
In October, we crowned our 2025 Florida Watermelon Queen Reagan Hudson. Congratulations to Reagan!
2024 was filled with many wonderful watermelon promotions. To learn more about the Queen program, please visit our website.
