September 2024 - Queen Update
The last few months of summer have been amazing promoting Florida watermelons in our local retail grocery stores.
Thank you to Publix and Detwiler’s Farmers Market for making all this possible. A special thank you to the NWPB for sponsoring us. Without you, we would not have been able to cover so many stores throughout our home state of Florida.
During the month of June, Queen Elanie, along with other state chapter queens, the National Watermelon Queen, coordinators, and many members of the watermelon industry headed to Washington DC for the International Fresh Produce Conference (IFPA). This three-day conference included visiting Capitol Hill with our House of Representatives and State Senators to advocate the Farm Bill, Workforce Challenges, and Nutrition & Growing Consumption for our watermelon industry. A special thank you to Darren and Jesse Wiggins for sponsoring us at the PAC dinner.
As our summer ends, our fall begins with promoting Florida watermelons. Remember to pick up your Florida watermelons at your local grocery stores this fall.
We hope to see everyone at the 56th Annual Florida Watermelon Convention as we will have 7 beautiful young ladies competing for the title of the 2025 Florida Watermelon Queen.
This year's convention will be held October 24-26 at the Marriott Sanibel Harbour Resort & Spa in Fort Myers, Florida. Look for more details on our website. This year’s convention theme is “Florida Watermelon Beach Spook-Tacular”. Be sure to dress up in your best Spook-Tacular attire. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes!
As always, please continue to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
Until next time!
